Environmental Law Handbook Compiled to Aid Enforcement

The first comprehensive list of the state's environmental laws and regulatory agencies has been compiled by the Environmental Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association.
Work of some 27 contributing authors was collected for the "Environmental Law Handbook," the first major project of the Environmental Law Section. It is believed to be the first complete list of references on environmental laws and enforcers of those laws in Oklahoma.
The section is the newest of the Oklahoma Bar Association, formed in about May 1991 with a membership roster of about 100 attorneys. There are some 225 attorneys in the section now.
"There really was no one source for all this information," said Robert M. Johnson of the Crowe Dunlevy law firm in Oklahoma City, who was managing editor of the handbook.
Topics in the handbook cover: Air pollution. Water pollution. Solid and hazardous waste disposal and remediation. Oil and gas environmental issues. Asbestos. Hazardous waste injection wells. Common law in pollution cases. Environmental regulation of mining. …
