Four OU Faculty Members Selected to Fill New Chairs, Professorships
Four faculty members at the University of Oklahoma College of Law have been selected to fill two new chairs in law and two new professorships.
Robert E. L. Richardson was selected to fill the Floyd H. and Martha Norris Chair in Law, which was endowed through a $500,000 gift from Floyd Norris, a 1935 graduate of the College of Law.
Richardson, a David Ross Boyd Professor, joined the OU faculty in 1964. He has served as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives and recently completed two years as associate dean for external relations for the College of Law. Harry F. Tepker was selected to serve as the first Floyd A. and Irma K. Calvert Chair in Law and Liberty. The Calvert professorship was established with gifts from Floyd A. Calvert Jr., now deceased, and Horace K. Calvert of Oklahoma City. Tepker has been a member of the College of Law faculty since 1981 and teaches courses in constitutional law and equal employment opportunity. In 1993, he received a Regents Award for Superior Teaching and in 1996-97 he served as the chair of the OU Faculty Senate. William J. McNichols is the new Welcome D. and W. Devier Pierson Professor of Law. He joined the OU faculty in 1968 after private practice in Rochester, N.Y. His primary areas of teaching and research are in constitutional law, jurisprudence, law and medicine, products liability and torts. From 1989 to 1992, McNichols was chair of the Oklahoma Governor's Bioethics Task Force that recommended legislation that is the basis for Oklahoma's current living will advance directive law. The Pierson Professorship was established with a gift from W. DeVier Pierson, a 1957 graduate of the OU College of Law. He has a practice in Washington. Joyce Palomar was selected to serve as the Judge Haskell A. Holloman Professor. She came to OU in 1988 and concentrates her teaching in property, title examination, real estate transactions and land finance. The Holloman professorship was endowed through a gift from Cornelia …
