There are few more draining schedules in British politics than that of the Schools Minister, Andrew Adonis. From the start of the week to the end he is in some deprived part of England in talks about the latest City Academies. Thin and wiry, the equivalent of a greyhound in a hurry, he races from school to school in a crusade to raise standards.
I caught him in action briefly at the end of last year. His passion and commitment verge on the noble, if it is not a sin in modern Britain to write about politicians in such elevated terms.
