President's Message

Manning, Mike, Energy Law Journal

The Energy Law Journal plays a vital role in the mission of the Energy Bar Association, which is to promote the professional excellence and ethical integrity of its members in the practice, administration, and development of energy laws, regulations and policies. Now in its 29th year of publication, the ELJ is recognized as the preeminent scholarly journal that is dedicated solely to energy issues. Over nearly three decades, the Journal has published articles that informed our members of new developments in the nation's energy laws and regulations and, more recently, how the effects of competition and open-access policies have fundamentally restructured the electric industry, as well as the oil and natural gas pipeline industries.

In this issue of the Journal, you will find an article on demand resources authored by FERC Commissioner Jon Wellinghoff and David Morenoff. There are articles from our colleagues covering development of governance and ADR policies for RTOs, ISOs, and power pools and how long term transmission rights under EPAct 2005 are being addressed. There also are articles on renewable energy resources, such as wind power, and potential laws dealing witii carbon sequestration from coal-fired plants.
