John P. Meyer and Christian Vandenberghe: Division Editors Organizational Behaviour/Human Resource Management


Christian Vandenberghe is a Full Professor in the Department of Management at HEC Montreal. He completed his Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology in 1996 at the Catholic University of Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. He was appointed professor of work and organizational psychology at the Catholic University of Louvain from 1997 to 2003 and in 2003 moved to HEC Montreal. Since 2005, Christian Vandenberghe has been the holder of the Canada Research Chair in the management of employee commitment and performance at HEC Montreal.

Christian Vandenberghe has authored or co-authored more than 65 published journal articles and book chapters in English or French. His articles have appeared in journals such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Group and Organization Management, Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, European Journal of Psychological Assessment, European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, Applied Psychology: An International Review, Psychologie du Travail et des Organisations, and Travail Humain. His research interests include job attitudes, organizational commitment, turnover and performance, well-being in the workplace, and leadership and change processes.

John Meyer received his Ph.D. from The University of Western Ontario in 1978. After spending three years at St. Thomas University in Fredericton NB, he returned to Western where he is now a professor and chair of the graduate program in industrial and organizational (I/O) psychology and director of the Research Unit for Work and Productivity. His research interests include organizational commitment, work motivation, organizational justice, leadership, and organizational change. His work has been published in leading journals in the field of I/O psychology (e.g., Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology) and management (e.g., Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management). He is also co-author of Commitment in the Workplace: Theory, Research and Application (Sage Publications, 1997) and Best Practices: Employee Retention (Carswell, 2000). He has consulted with private and public organizations in Canada on issues related to his research and has been invited to conduct seminars and workshops in Europe, Asia, and Australia. Prof. Meyer is a fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and a member of the Academy of Management. He is a former chair of Canadian Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

The Division welcomes empirical and conceptual papers from all areas of Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management, including those addressing micro issues such as work performance, job attitudes, individual behaviour, careers, stress and quality of life, as well as more macro issues such as team processes and effectiveness, leadership, organizational change, and HRM policies and practices.
