The names of Charles Delaunay, Brian Rust and others readily come to mind, but that of Orin Blackstone tends to be overlooked today, not least in the land of his domicile. As an example of this, the definitive history of Lu Watters and the Yerba Buena Jazz Band had to wait to be written by an Australian, John Buchanan, and published there in 1996.
I initially wrote about Orin Blackstone in the context of my article, The Birth of Discography, which appeared in the IAJRC Journal, Volume 33, Number 4, dated Fall, 2000. However, I now intend to evaluate him and his accomplishments in greater depth ā¦
