The Art of the Classroom Makeover
NEW DRAFTING TABLES , flat filing drawers and an industrial-size sink- all in a big, airy classroom for the visual arts - are part of this year's extreme makeover at Eleanor McMain Secondary School in New Orleans.
An excited crowd of AFT members and other volunteers, city officials and students gathered right before the start of the school year to "reveal" the classroom to art teacher Natalie Maloney. Over the summer, an army of volunteers, including AFT members from all over the country, transformed her classroom.
The project continues a community collaboration by the United Teachers of New Orleans (UTNO), on a roll since winning the AFT's first Extreme Classroom/Library ā¦
