Colin Powell to Speak at 2012 NACDS Foundation Dinner
The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation has invited General Colin L. Powell, the former U.S. Secretary of State and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as the keynote speaker for the 2012 NACDS Foundation dinner, which will be held in New York City on Nov. 27.
"General Colin Powell's insights as a public servant - as a member of the U.S. Army, a diplomat, and a philanthropist - will inspire benefactors and guests at the NACDS Foundation dinner," said NACDS Foundation President Kathleen Jaeger in a press statement. "We look forward to his reflections on his five decades of global and local leadership, including second-to-none commitment to education and to our youth."
Powell began his military career after completing the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program near his home in Harlem N. Y. His military career spanned 35 years, during which he served under four presidential administrations. He was the national security advisor under President Ronald Reagan.
