The Small Business Service Contracts with the British Accreditation Bureau for Consultant Database System
The Government's Small Business Service (SBS) has contracted with the British Accreditation Bureau (BAB) to provide all 43 Business Link (BL) operators with access to BAB's Accredited Skills Register (ASR) database of accredited consultants.
In his letter to the BL operators, David Irwin (CEO SBS) said, "We have contracted with BAB so that the many thousands of consultants on the BAB database can be considered by BL operators and so that BL operators can access a wide-range of approved consultants."
Fragmentation in the market of consultant accreditation has caused many problems for consultants wishing to work with BLs on behalf of their Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) clients. Often, this has meant consultants having to submit the same references and credentials many times and paying numerous application fees.
David Fenn (BAB's CEO) said, "We have worked with the majority of BLs since their inception in the mid-nineties and understand their requirements well. Our experience of SBS management is that they want pragmatic solutions which provide best value for the taxpayer. We are delighted that the ASR is now available to all BL operators".
