About the Contributors LI-RONG LILLY CHENG is professor of communicative disorders, and assistant dean of Student Affairs and International Development, College of Health and Human Services, San Diego State University. She is also director of the International Institute for Human Resources Development in Health and Human Services and a fellow of the American Speech-language Hearing Association. She has researched bilingual language acquisition, language and culture, cross-cultural communication, and speech-language pathology among the bilingual population. MARILYN MEI-YING CHI is professor of language/literacy education and coordinator of the Chinese Bilingual Teaching Credential Program, Division of Teacher Education, San Jose State University. She has published six books and numerous articles on early literacy, Chinese-American children's literature, and the linguistic and cultural backgrounds of Chinese-American students. Her current research projects focus on English-Chinese bilingual and biliteracy development and learning processes and how limited English proficient Asian children acquire English as a second language in multiple contexts. HAROLD CHU is professor and director of the Center for Bilingual- Multicultural-ESL Education, Graduate School of Education, George Mason University. He is the author of six books and numerous chapters and articles on bilingual-multicultural-ESL education; language arts; assessment; comparative analyses between Korean and English, Japanese and English; Korean and American, and Japanese and American cultures. -310- |
