Glossary
Aggression--An attempt to physically harm someone.
Anger--A defensive emotional reaction that occurs when one is frustrated, denied, or attached.
Anxiety--A feeling that exists when one is afraid but cannot recognize the cause.
Assessment--A process of collecting formal and informal data about pupils for the purpose of making instructional decisions.
Behavioral deficit--A response that presents a problem because there have been few opportunities to practice the appropriate behavior.
Behavioral description--A statement that includes a description of specific behaviors being observed.
Behavioral objective--A form for writing an instructional objective that emphasizes expected student outcomes, type of evaluation, and performance standards.
Communication--A message sent by an individual with the planned intention of affecting another individual's behavior.
Compromising--Giving up ones' goal while the other student does the same in order to reach an agreement.
Conformity--Changes in behavior that result from group influences; yielding to group pressure when no direct request has been made.
Effective communication--When a students' message is interpreted in the same way it was intended.
Fear--Real or imaginary feelings shown by students, resulting in physiological responses.
Identity--A consistent set of attitudes that describe, characterize, and define who one is.
Imaginary--Feelings or experiences that exist only in the imagination or fancy; not real experiences.
