"The Monstrous Instrument"

by Maina Kțnyattț

A pen
A powerful instrument
One learns soon how it terrifies
Those who fight truth

The other day they came
In my cell number eleven
With clubs and steel whips
Wrecked the place
Looking for this dangerous instrument--
The Pen
They found nothing
The prison boss said:

I must be kept clean
Away from this dangerous instrument
Because I am capable of causing
Irreparable damage
I am mad
