There comes a time in every paradigm when new perspectives are required to supplant the old. That time has come in the field of propaganda, which for more than a half century has been tied to war and conflict, but now is an integral part of the emerging popular culture.Part I of this book frames propagandas in their cultural and meaning contexts and answers these questions:
What is total propaganda, and how does it come about? ,

The answer: It represents the synergies of propagandas and the energies that these produce. In effect, the whole of total propaganda is greater than the sum of its parts.

How do we define and distinguish between the old propagandas and the new?

The answer: If the propaganda enhances the functioning of the popular culture it is new propaganda; if it inhibits it, it is the old propaganda.

How do we think and speak of the propagandas?

The answer: A language of propaganda abbreviates and fuses related concepts and transforms them into uninyms. The uninyms help us to "think and speak" propaganda.

Who produces and consumes these propagandas?

The answer: Generations and social classes are more or less able and willing to create and utilize the old propaganda and the new.

What will be the means of communication of total propaganda, the old propaganda, and the new?

The answer: Cybercommunication will be both the agent and the vessel of total propaganda; it will create new voices, new media, and new audiences for both the old propaganda and the new.
