REWRITING THE A.I.M. STATEMENT A Sustained Andenken on Art Education in a Postmodern Society
This essay was written in the summer of '92 in Klagenfurt, Austria, and finished in the summer of '93 in the same place. It represents another rewriting, this time a serious meditation (an Andenken) on Edmund Feldman's A. I. M. (Art in the Mainstream) statement which i have parodied on the following pages as it first appeared in the pages of the 1982 Art Education journal. I was unable to reproduce and poach the A. I. M. logo which appeared in the journal. It had all sorts of deconstructive potential. This essay shows an obvious interest in combining more cultural studies into art education, and rehearses once more a preoccupation of a historical understanding of the legacy of the Enlightenment, presented in a less biting tone than the previous essay.
