About the Authors

Anne M. Butler is coeditor of the Western Historical Quarterly and professor of history at Utah State University. She is the author of Daughters of Joy, Sisters of Misery: Prostitutes in the American West, 1865-1890, and has published extensively in western history on the subjects of social history and women's history.

Ona Siporin has worked for fifteen years as a writer and story- teller in the artists-in-the-schools programs. She has been a guest narrator at the Bay Area Storytelling Festival, and is a regular resource artist at Sundance Institute. She is the author of Stories to Gather All Those Lost.
