Deus Pater in sua substancia creans terram et omnia que in ea sunt per spacium v dierum.
GOD ¶In altissimis habito.
In the highest heaven my home have I,
Eterne mentis et ego,
Without end everlastingly.
Since I have wrought this world so wide,
Heaven and air and earth also,
My high godhead I will not hide,
Although some fools fell from me so.
When they assented with sin of pride
Up for to climb my throne unto,
In heaven they might no longer bide,
But swiftly went to dwell in woe;
And since they wrong have wrought
I choose to let them go
To suffer sorrow unsought,
Since they deserved so.
Their miss they never may amend,
Since they assent me to forsake;
For all their force none may defend;
They shall be fiends full foul and black;
And they that will on me depend
And true attention to me take,
Shall dwell in wealth without an end
And always joyful with me wake.
They shall have for their bliss
Solace that never shall slake.
This work methinks full well,
And more now will I make.
Since that this world is ordained even,
Forth will I publish all my power.
