REVIEW AND APPEAL PROCEDURES

Some type of appeal or review procedure to protect patient's rights is legislated for in the Acts of most of the states and can be accessed by patients, their representatives or official community visitors. There are provisions also for automatic review of detained patients at regular intervals by the review board. The appeal bodies are listed in Table 24.2.
