The Powers Statue of Jefferson
Photogravure from thd Marble Statue by Hiram Powers in the Capitol at Washington.
A splendid piece of work by the famous Vermont sculptor. It was
purchased in 1855 for the sum of $10,000 by the United States Government,
and placed in a niche at the bottom of the marble staircase leading to the
gallery of the House of Representatives.
