Pao Chao Hsieh was born in Canton, China, February 15, 1896. In 1912 he entered Tsing Him College, Peking, and graduated from that institution 1919. He was appointed to a scholarship to enable him to complete his education in an American college. He entered the College of Arts and Sciences of the Johns Hopkins University in October, 1919, and received the degree of Bachelor of Arts in June, 1920. In the fall of that year he began his graduate studies in the Departments of Political Science, Political Economy and History.
