JOHN WAIN, born March 14, 1925, in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, lives
with his second wife and their son in London.
He was educated at St. John's College, Oxford, and then taught at Reading University before resigning to devote his time to
writing. His works include novels, short
stories, and volumes of criticism and essays,
and he has lectured widely in the United
States and in India.
