How Am I Going to Achieve My Dream?
If choosing your Dream answers the question "What am I going to do?" using resources answer the question "How am I going to do this?" Resources are the means you have available to achieve a desired end. One of the defining characteristics of Winners is their ability, even in the most destitute of circumstances, to see what resources are available beyond their immediate circumstances. Winners see resources as not only available but plentiful, a view grounded in their belief in a positive Future.
As long as you see the Future as narrow and dark, you won't conceive of any but the most limiting of resources. You'll tighten the proverbial belt, keep yourself at a survivalist level so as not to need any but the most restricted of resources. For example, survivalist organizations typically believe that the Future will be a dreadful one, and therefore have reduced their needs to the bare minimum. The Salt Lake City Tribune reported on June 21 of 1998 that many militia groups predict that in Y2K -- cyber-speak for the year 2000 -- "the banking industry will collapse, food stocks will shrink and the government will have no choice but to federalize state law enforcement." When this happens, survivalists believe, the world will be divided into "those who succumb and those who survive."
