At the request of Mrs. Washington I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter to her of the 31 of Decr. 1 and to assure you that she receives with grateful sensibility, the (?) condolence of yourself & Mrs. Huntington on her late afflicting & irreparable loss.- and while she looks to that Divine Being alone, for consolation to whose Dispensations her Christian Duty teaches her to know, with humble submission, she feels as she ought, the tender sympathy of her friends, as an alleviation to her grief in this heart-rending affliction.- She begs Mrs. Huntington & yourself to accept her grateful acknowledgements for your kind wishes, and to assure you that you will always have her prayers for your health & happiness.
