This is a representative bibliography of writing on world environmental history, not a list of references for the chapters of this book. It should serve to give suggestions for further reading in the field. It does not pretend to be exhaustive, especially in North American environmental history, where the literature has become truly vast in recent years. The books listed here are environmental histories, studies of environmental history, and a few other works that are of importance to environmental historians.
