TWO RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENTS arose from
the farms and fields of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in 1951. Situated less than twenty miles northeast of Philadelphia, the two suburban communities had much in common. Both benefited from
mass production construction technologies that lowered the price
of housing to the point where it became affordable to families of
