How did you prepare yourself to go to college?
First of all, I had to start saving some money. My father was working, but he was making less than I was. I had been putting every dollar I earned into the family coffer so we could pay off the house and kept just a few dollars for my own pocket money. I wanted my parents to own the house and have some economic security. Although my father had a marvellous constitution, we never knew when he might have serious complications from having been gassed overseas. I had no money when I decided to go to college, so I spent a year saving and reading as much as I could. I got books from the church minister and Mr. Major. I did a good deal of reading and studying at nights, although not in an organized way but in a reasonably haphazard way. Dr. W. C.
