The Bibliography of John Marshall represents an independent project. The work of compiling this bibliography was financed by a grant made by the John Marshall Bicentennial Program of the College of William and Mary in Virginia to Mr. Servies as part of its research and publication program for the John Marshall Bicentennial Year. A large part of the research and investigation required to complete the bibliography has been done through the facilities of the William and Mary College Library with the cooperation of other libraries and with the help of numerous individuals as well as legal and historical scholars. The College of William and Mary and its John Marshall. Bicentennial Program Committee wishes to express their gratitude to the United States Commission for the Celebration of the Two Hundredth Anniversary of the Birth of John Marshall for its interest in the publication of the project and to Mr. Servies for the patient and scholarly work which made possible the completion of this bibliography.
