Two rows of galleries, one above the other along the sides; the upper row is divided into boxes. No seats in the pit, which is the stage of the theatre; at the back of this pit, that is to say on the right foreground, a few benches, and under a staircase leading to the upper seats, and of which only the beginning is to be seen, a sort of refreshment table decorated with candelabra, vases of flowers, crystal glasses, plates of cakes, bottles, etc. At the back of the stage, in the middle, under the gallery of boxes, the entrance to the theatre. A large door, opening part way to let in the spectators. On the door, as well as in several corners, and above the refreshment table, red posters announcing : "La Clorise." When the curtain rises the hall is dimly lighted and empty. The chandeliers are lowered in the centre of the pit, ready to be illuminated. -2- |
