U.S. Senator Larry Pressler (R-S.D.) served as Chairman of the
Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Arms Control 1981 to
1985. He is the current Chairman of the Subcommittee on European
Affairs. He also serves on the Senate Commerce, Science, and
Transportation Committee, Senate Small Business Committee, and
Senate Special Committee on Aging. First elected to the House of
Representatives in 1974, he was elected to the Senate in 1978 and
reelected in 1984. Pressler earned a Diploma, Oxford ( England)
University and M.A. and J.D. degrees from Harvard University and
Harvard Law School, respectively. His B.A. degree is from the
University of South Dakota, where he won Phi Beta Kappa honors.
He served in Vietnam as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
