The China Research Monograph series, whose first title appeared in 1967, is one
of several publications series sponsored by the Institute of East Asian Studies in
conjunction with its constituent units. The others include the Japan Research
Monograph series, the Korea Research Monograph series, the Indochina Research
Monograph series, and the Research Papers and Policy Studies series. A list of
