Gonzalès leaves Chaplin's studio.

1868

Morisot meets Edouard Manet and poses for Le Balcon.

1869

Gonzalès meets Manet, poses for a portrait and, becomes his student.

1870

Cassatt returns to Philadelphia for two years. Gonzalès shows at the Salon and escapes the
Commune in Dieppe; Morisot also shows and stays in Paris. Bracquemond's son Pierre is
born.

1871

Bracquemond moves to Sèvres after her husband Félix is appointed artistic director of the
Haviland Limoges porcelain works in Auteuil.

1872

Cassatt returns to Europe, travels to Spain and Italy, and shows at the Salon. Gonzalès and
Morisot also enter works in the Salon, where Gonzalès is noticed by Emile Zola.

1873

Morisot exhibits at the Salon and Gonzalès at the Salon des Refusés. Cassatt travels to The
Netherlands.

1874

Cassatt and Bracquemond show at the Salon, where Cassatt is noticed by Degas. Following
Manet's advice, Gonzalès shows works in his studio. Morisot participates in the First
Impressionist exhibition and marries Edouard Manet's brother Eugène.

1875

Bracquemond begins to paint Impressionist works, much to her husband's disapproval.
Cassatt enters works in the Salon.

1876

Cassatt and Gonzalès exhibit at the Salon. Morisot shows at the Second Impressionist
exhibition.
