Acknowledgments This book is the result of a symposium held at the Mayan Ranch in Bandera, Texas, October, 1994, entitled Research on Classroom Ecologies: Implica- tions for Inclusion of Children with Learning Disabilities. The symposium was sponsored by the Division for Learning Disabilities of the Council for Exceptional Children (DLD) , the Illinois State Board of Education, the Texas State Educational Agency, the Great Lakes Regional Resource Center (GLARRC), and the South Atlantic Regional Resource Center (SARRC). Many people deserve credit for this collaborative effort between the pri- vate and public sectors interested in the development of children with learn- ing disabilities. Diane Davis and Larry Magliocca provided leadership for the Regional Resource Centers. LiNelle Gallagher and Connie Parr served on the planning committee as state representatives for the Learning Disabilities As- sociation. Dan Bulara and Barbara Marshall (GLARRC) were instrumental in keeping the planning committee organized during what seemed to be inter- minable conference calls. Forrest Novy ( Texas, DLD) and Cindy Terry ( Illi- nois, DLD) provided the fuel to energize the relationship between DLD and RRCs. KarenSue Zoeller ( Texas) was a masterful host in Bandera who han- dled innumerable details, solved problems, and corralled us to stay on time. In addition to the support provided by SARRC, Texas also contributed time and support related to planning and documenting the symposium. In this re- gard we thank Bonnie Garrington and Sherry Myer. Daniel Hallihan (DLD) shepherded the book through the contract stages with Hollis Heimbouch, who served as our initial editor at Lawrence Erlbaum -xi- |
