CHAPTER III
A LIST OF CLASSICAL AND MODERN WORKS
FOR TWO PIANOS
Nature of the List.-- The list of music for two pianos--four hands which
follows includes the works of classic, romantic and modern composers in
which Piano II is treated on an equality both technically and musically with
Piano I; therefore only occasional mention is made of concertos, concert
pieces and orchestral works in which the second piano becomes merely a
substitute for the orchestral accompaniments. In order that those who
wish to purchase any of the works may be guided as to the source of publi-
cation -- foreign or American -- symbols have been placed on works which
are either published in the United States, or for which there is a permanent
representative of the foreign publisher in this country. The key to the
symbols placed after the titles of the works is as follows:
AMP -- Associated Music Publishers, Inc.-- New York
CF -- Carl Fischer, Inc.-- New York
Gal. -- Galaxy Music Corporation New York
Har. -- Harcourt, Brace & Co.-- New York
JF -- J. Fischer and Brother -- New York
