To Albuquerque's South Valley, where I grew up
"beyond bounds" in a cross-cultural world that made
me who I am.

To Deb and Edith Wylder, with keen appreciation for
their continuing encouragement.

To my friends all up and down and across the lines of
Anglo, Indian, and Chicano ethnicity. To Eddie
Sanchez, Eddie Gonzales, Carlos Torres, Sally Padilla,
Joann Turner, Frankie Chavez, Arturo Chavez, Lucy
and Edna and Irene Metzgar, Rosendo Garcia, George
Davis, Patsy Burson, Terri Sangre, Betty Argo, Sharon
Watland, JoAnn and Clifford McKinnon, and Kenyon
Thomas--who danced the riffs and refrains of la
musica del Valle with me, loud and soft, and I know
still hear our mutual melodies.

And, ever and always, to Judy, Robin, Tim, and
Annabeth; to Stuart, Matt, Joe, and Daniel, who travel
the same expanding, at times confusing, boundaries of
"family" in mutual love, hope, and understanding.
