A.VAUGHAN OF TRETOWER
William Vaughan (6th in descent from Sir Roger, d. 1415) = 1 Frances,dau. of Tho. Somerset
1. By a previous marriage to a Vaughan of Talgarth Frances was mother of Roger Vaughan of Trephilip (Sheriff 1646-7).
2. Charles Vaughan married secondly in 1636 Ursula Coningsby (living in 1652).
3. Took his grandmother's maiden name Vaughan. Theo. Jones ( Hist. Breckn., 1911, iii. 176 ) gives Margaret Powell as wife of Vaughan
Morgan's grandson, but inconsistently on a later page ( iii, 206 ) he makes the bridegroom Vaughan Morgan's son, which is correct for
the reason I have given on my p. 204.
4. Poem on his marriage (M 617).
5. As widow of Charles Williams, her first husband, she inherited Scethrog, which went later through her daughter Margaret to the
Vaughans of Tretower. Hugh Powell as rector of Llansantffraed 1668-1717.
6. Poem on his death (M 609).
