and an hypothesis worth investigating. Clinicians should not interpret such
concerns about the environment as displaced anxiety, but should foster
open exchange with patients concerning these issues. Likewise, a collabo-
ration between behavioral scientists and humanistic thinkers will promote
the development of a coherent ecopsychology.
