Hart Crane also solved his problems as an artist in such moving
and powerful monuments of poetic creations as "Praise for an
Urn," "Chaplinesque," "The Wine Menagerie," and "Voyages"
from White Buildings, and "Ave Maria," "The Dance," "National
Winter Garden," and "Atlantis" from The Bridge. But these an-
swers sustained him for a brief time only. Had he been as success-
ful in solving his personal problems, he might have faced the fu-
ture with more wisdom, confidence, and hope. Unfortunately, he
gave himself no second chance.
