Warren Hamilton Lewis was born at Belfast, North Ireland,
on June 16, 1895. He was educated at Malvern College and
in 1913 entered the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He
was granted a commission and served with the Army Service
Corps until his retirement in 1932. He now lives with his
younger brother, C. S. Lewis, in Oxford, England. Mr. Lewis,
whose major interest is seventeenth-century France, has also
written The Sunset of the Splendid Century, a sequel to THE
SPLENDID CENTURY.

in 1953 by William Sloane Associates.
