At the request of Mr. Paul Elder, a publisher of
San Francisco, my color sketches were done over in
black and white by a clever Japanese artist, Sekko
Shimada, and then printed with their elucidating
jingles as "Eric's Book of Beasts," already noticed.
What they gained in finish they lost through abated
ferocity of coloring!
