feeling somewhat distant from what I wrote. Since then the bodily sen-
sations of menopause have occupied me more as -- sharing New -found
knowledge with same-aged colleagues -- I read of, and experiment with,
ancient herbal, and other natural, remedies and find that they work . . .
It has been a momentous week -- the end of an era for me. The first
copies of the oral history book ( Middleton & May, 1997 ) arrived on Mon-
day. On Tuesday I received and responded to the copy-editor's queries
on the text of my book for Teachers' College Press, Disciplining sexual-
ity -- Foucault, life-histories, and education
. I have a publication date --
February, 1998. I feel 'written out' -- happy to rest from writing for a
while, to focus on my work as Assistant Dean (Graduate Studies) -- to
create systems and structures that nurture the writings of others. And
I've cut. my coffee intake down to four cups . . .
