About the Contributors LYNNE B. ALVINE is associate professor and coordinator of the Master of Arts in Teaching English Program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. A former middle and high school English teacher, she is now a nationally recognized educational researcher and lecturer in Eng- lish education. MICHAEL L. ANGELOTTI is professor of education at the Univer- sity of Oklahoma, Norman. An accomplished teacher and writer, he is editor of English International, director of the Oklahoma Writing Pro- ject, and poet in residence for the Oklahoma Arts Council. JOAN BAUER is the author of Squashed, winner of the Delacorte Press Prize for a First Young Adult Novel and the School Library Journal Best Book of the Year Award.
