Advanced Search
By using the advanced search you are able to specify a specific title, author, subject, publisher, publication year, or type of media you wish to search. This will help narrow your search results and find relevant information on your topic.

Narrowing search results
Narrow search results by selecting the "Search within results" options while in your search results. At this point you will need to select another keyword relevant to your research topic. This will search in your current results for your new keyword.

Problems with Username
Your Username can be anything you wish provided it meets the following requirements:
Must start with a letter or number.(i.e. JohnDoe2003)
May not contain spaces or special characters.
Must be something that is not already in use by another member.
Please remember that your Username is case sensitive.

What is Questia Friend?
The Questia Friend field is part of our "Refer-a-Friend" program. If you were referred to us by a friend give them credit by entering their Username in the Questia friend field. For more information on Questia's "Refer-a-Friend" program click here.

Credit card number is invalid
Double check to insure that your credit card number is entered correctly. Make sure that the expiration date on the form matches what is on your card. Questia accepts Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express. If you are still receiving an invalid card number message, please check with the card issuer to validate that the card can make online purchase and that there are available funds in the account.

How do I purchase a Gift Subscription for another person?
If you are purchasing a subscription for someone else as a gift, click on the subscription you wish to purchase. Once on the subscription page, you will notice a gift box to the right of the page. Click on the gift which will take you to the gift subscription form. Simply fill out the recipients information along with your own and click the submit button. The recipient will not have access to your billing information. Upon completion, you and the recipient will receive a confirmation email confirming the subscription.

Quote does not appear with citation
If you find your citation is being produced without the quote in front of it, please ensure that you have selected the text with your mouse prior to clicking the Quote/Cite button. Highlighting the text with the highlighter will not substitute for selecting the text with the mouse. If this does not fix the problem, check to see if the selection you have made was previously highlighted. If so, delete the highlight from your workspace and try to create the citation again.

Want larger book viewing area
The Read window takes advantage of the current browser window size and resolution on your system. Increasing either will affect the available viewing area, though you will need to click Refresh on your browser to have the Read window take advantage of the changes. Clicking hide in the left panel will also create more viewing space. Refer to Help for details.

Unable to print more than one page at a time
Due to agreements with our publishers we are only able to allow users to print one page at a time.

Adjusting book viewing preferences
By using the Preferences section, you can customize the options on our site. For instance, you are able to change the size or type of the font in a book. You can also change your default citation, printing, and searching preferences.
