Ex-Solon Named to Labor Relations Commission by President Arroyo

Former labor sector representative Ernesto C. Verceles has been appointed commissioner of the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

The appointment was announced last May 1 by Labor Secretary Patricia Sto. Tomas during the celebration of Labor Day by the Federation of Free Workers (FFW) at the Remedios Circle, Malate, Manila.

Verceles took his oath of office last May 6 before Sto. Tomas at the Department of Labor and Employment building in Intramuros, Manila.

At the time of his appointment as NLRC commissioner representing labor, Verceles was a member of the governing board of the Federation of Free Workers, vice president for Asia of the International Federation of Employes in Public Services (INFEDOP), vice president for Trade Action (Asia) of the World Confederation of Labor (WCL); executive committee member of the Brotherhood of Asian Trade Unions (BATU), president of the University of the East Employes Association, the Association of Service Industry Unions of the Philippines, the Asub Federation of Employes in Public Services (ASIAFEDOP), the UE Cooperative Credit Union, , and the UE Consumers Cooperative, Inc. …
