Charles H. Watkins Ph.D. of Lake Barrington

Services for Charles Henry Watkins Ph.D., 90, formerly of Ocala, Fla. and Arlington Heights, will be held at 3 p.m. today, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. Fr. Fred Licciardi will officiate. Born March 21, 1913, in Sturgis, Ky., he passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Gardens Cemetery, Ocala. Charles graduated from Purdue University with his Ph.D. in chemical engineering. He was a 30-year employee of Universal Oil Products, where he worked as a chemical engineer. He held numerous patents in the oil refining and processing industry. In addition, he had articles published in several journals on petroleum products. Dr. Watkins was also the family historian. He was a true southern gentleman. Charles and his wife Myrtle helped finance their four children's and eight grandchildren's college educations. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle H. …
