Once again, the Fine Arts students of CAFA displayed their art prowess during the recently concluded Painting Competition sponsored by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) in celebration of its 67th Anniversary Celebration and National Heritage Month with the theme, HERITAGE: Legacy of Filipino Achievements.

TUP swept away the three Best Entry winners for the Student Category. They are Dexter Fernandez, Lynard Arwyn Paras, Edgardo Pantoni, Jr and Julius Acbang, all 4th year TUP Fine Arts students. Fernandez and Paraz were awarded P 100,000 each while Pantoni and Acbang who garnered the same points shared with P50, 000 each. Luzviminda Botana, also a 4th year BFA student was one of the Jurors Choice who also won P10, 000 cash prize. The awarding ceremony was held at the GSIS Mini Theater recently.

On the other hand, Samuel D. Bulaga, a 4th year Advertising major won 2nd place with 60, 000 cash prize and P25, 000 worth of prizes in kind in the recently concluded Directory Cover 18th Visual Art National Competition sponsored by PLDT- DPC.

The College of Architecture and Fine Arts has been consistently breeding winners in various visual arts national and local competitions participated in by the countrys top universities and colleges in the region like the University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, College of the Holy Spirit, St. Scholasticas College, Far Eastern University and University of the East, Manila.

TUP-HNU alliance forms a major breakthroughDevelops PhD in Information Technology program

The alliance between the TUP and the Hannam University (HNU) of the Republic of Korea took the fi rst step towards the realization of one of the areas of cooperation in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two universities signed last year by developing of the curriculum for the Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology (PhD-IT) program.

The development of the PhD-IT program is one of the areas of cooperation listed in the MOU between the TUP and HNU signed last July 07 2003. The TUP was represented by Dr. Carlito Puno, Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Chairman of the TUP Board of Regents (BOR). …
