Valley Covenant Church - Dale Kuehne, associate professor of politics at St. Anselm University in New Hampshire, will speak on "Engaging the Real World for Christ" in two lectures today at the church, 3636 W. 18th Ave. The lectures are part of an ongoing "Church & Culture" series co-sponsored by Church of the Servant King. Kuehne will discuss "Christianity and Politics in the Old and New Testaments" at 10 a.m. today and "Christianity, Post-Modernity and Same-Sex Marriage" at 7 p.m. today. He also will lead a question-and-answer session at 9:30 a.m. Sunday and then speak at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Information: 345-0055.

Community of Christ - "The Boarding House," a humorous melodrama by Vern Harden, will be performed today at 6:30 p.m. at the church, 1485 Gilham Road. A preceding dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Free-will offering, with proceeds to go to tsunami victims in South Asia. Information: 302-3960.

Marcus Borg Lectures - Marcus Borg, Oregon State University professor and internationally known Biblical scholar and author, will give two lectures at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, 1376 Olive St. Cost for both lectures is $25 and includes a light supper; advance registration required. Borg, a member of the Historical Jesus Seminar, will discuss themes in his latest book, "The Heart of Christianity." The 4 p.m. lecture is titled "A Tale of Two Christianities: An Earlier and an Emerging Christianity." The 6:30 p.m. lecture is titled "Emerging Congregations: Embodying the Emerging Vision."
