Eight cheering squads from different universities/colleges in Metro Manila converged in Market Market! in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig last May 3, and wowed the malls shoppers with their acrobatic stunts and deafening chants as they cheered for the Isuzu SEE Technology.

No, its not a name of a school nor of a new team on the PBL.

I SEE Technology is Isuzus latest global thrust in developing environmentally sound products, which this car company calls "the three-point route to a better driving experience."

"This cheering competition is the culminating activity of the Isuzu SEE Technology Campaign that was officially launched last March 27," said Art Balmadrid, corporate business division vice president.

"This was designed to capitalize the benefits of Isuzus Direct Injection Diesel Engines and to infuse safety, economy and environment technologies in our products, which were executed in four eventsthe I SEE Stickering Promo, I SEE Drive Challenge, I SEE Technology Mall Display and the I SEE Technology Cheerleading Competition," explained Balmadrid.

Conceptualized by Balmadrid, the I SEE Technology Cheering Competition, which he first saw in Thailand, wasnt only meant to promote the campaign but also to educate the students on the general rules of acquiring a vehicle.

If strength, flexibility and technique are the secrets to being a good cheerleader, Isuzu says that "safety, economy and environment-friendliness" would be the drivers guidelines in buying cars, which are implemented on Isuzu products, particularly the sleek Isuzu DMax (pickup truck) and the Isuzu Sportivo (SUVSports Utility Vehicle).

"The students are our second marketfuture customers. Soon, theyll be buying their own cars, so its better to educate them about cars as early as now. Its not about the cars looks, but they should consider its performance whether its safe, environmentally-friendly and economical, especially now mahal ang gas!" noted Balmadrid.

A total of 17 cheering squads from different schools participated in the two-day I SEE Technology Cheerleading Competition elimination round last April 15-16, at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Sports and Cultural Center. Only 8 squads made it to the finals.

They were : PUP Mighty Marooners ( Polytechnic University of the Philippines), University of Makati Pep Squad (University of Makati, Mapua Cheering Cardinals (Mapua Institute of Technology), Letran Cheering Squad (Letran College), New Era University Hunters (New Era University), PLM Pep Squad (Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila), CCP Bobcats (Central College of the Philippines) and EAC Generals Pep Squad (Emilio Aguinaldo College). …
