LIONS boss Sir Clive Woodward last night eased the fears of misfiring starlet Gavin Henson.

The 23-year-old's centre partnership with tour skipper Brian O'Driscoll failed to ignite in Rotorua during the Lions' 34-20 win over Bay of Plenty.

Henson was replaced with 15 minutes to go by one of his closest Test rivals, O'Driscoll's Ireland team-mate Gordon D'Arcy.

Within minutes he galloped home for a stylish try while Henson sat forlorn on the replacements' bench.

But Woodward insisted he was happy with the performance of the Ospreys centre.

'I thought he had a great game. The only reason I made the change was there were just two points in it and I was being a little conservative,' he said.

'I just put the Irish guys together because they were used to each other. It's not easy to play in that pivotal position between two guys you've never played with before, in Ronan O'Gara and Brian. …
