Gary Anderson: Renault Can Only Throw It All Away

THE British Grand Prix is the start of the second half of the season and if a driver or team is going to be a championship threat to Fernando Alonso and Renault then they must get on the top step of the podium from here on in.

Renault have dominated the first half of the season. They did their homework well over the winter and came out with all guns blazing - that together with the form of Fernando Alonso means they now lead the Constructers Championship by 18 points and Drivers Championship by 24 points.

While Alonso has had the help of some good luck his team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella has been less so. After winning the first race of the season he has had everything thrown at him - accidents, engine failures and reliability problems.

It is really too late now for his championship hopes but if his luck changes then he will be able to ride shotgun for Alonso for the rest of the season.

McLaren are offering the strongest challenge and with the determination of the ''Ice Man'' Kimi Raikkonen who lies second in the championship I believe we will see some very good racing between now and the end of the season. …
