Police May Be Packing a HEMI

Take a roomy sedan or station wagon, give it rear-wheel-drive, stick a big powerful horsepower engine under the hood and you have the making of a highly desired police car. With Dodge's new Magnum wagon and the recently introduced Dodge Charger outfitted with the 340 horsepower HEMI, the black and white good guys at law enforcement agencies now have a choice between two new performance cruisers.

Dodge recently announced its "Hot Pursuit" entrance back into the police car market. So don't be surprised later this year when you see a HEMI powered new Magnum or Charger passing you. Dodge Charger police vehicles equipped with HEMI engines will be able to go from zero to 60 mph in just 6.0 seconds. Move over speeders.

Police departments across America have been clambering for a new rear-wheel-drive performance cruiser that's safe.

With the Dodge Charger and the Dodge Magnum now modern muscle is available for street patrol.

I'm sure you've seen those great ads on TV using the line, "That Thing Got a HEMI?"

Since the rebirth of the HEMI engine, HEMI has become a brand within a brand by offering the hottest new Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles with a HEMI. For sure officers driving these new Dodge cruisers will be hearing, "That Thing Got a HEMI?"

While Dodge will prepare each new cruiser with the best of required equipment for safety and performance, the Magnum and Charger cruiser will require lots of special electronics and law enforcement pursuit amenities via aftermarket suppliers. Dodger will prepare each new police car so that police departments can easily custom outfit each car as desired with ease. This is an example of factory built vehicles joining aftermarket installers to finish the new vehicle for a specified application.

Easily installed aftermarket add-on can include secured communications, radios, computers, video surveillance equipment, pursuit lights, sirens, global positioning systems, navigation, radar apparatus, and much more.

The V-8 HEMI engine features Chrysler Group's Multi- displacement System (MDS), which seamlessly alternates between smooth, high fuel economy four-cylinder mode when less power is needed and V-8 mode when more power is required. …
