As far as comedy double acts go, it's got to be right up there with the greatest. Well, perhaps not the greatest, but right up there with those hilarious duos Little and Large or even Hale and Pace at least.

The Owen Money and Gazza show may never actually open at Penydarren Park, talks are still at an early stage, but when it comes to getting column inches for Merthyr Tydfil Football Club, it's already something of a coup.

Indeed, it is hard to work out how seriously to take the whole thing anyway.

You keep expecting the Martyrs' most famous director, the aforementioned Mr Money, to suddenly air that famous giggle, give a little wink and admit he's been winding us up all along.

But all an unusually serious Mr Money will say about the whole shaboodle is, 'We've been talking to Paul's agent and he has expressed an interest in joining Merthyr Tydfil. The next step is to set up a meeting with Paul.'

Let's just hope it's not at Strikers bar, but there we go with the jokes again, about what, after all, is a serious issue.
